    What this is all about?

We are looking for a qualified Senior Commissioning Engineer with mechanical engineering experience and field experience delivering commissioning projects and optimizing building systems.

The ideal candidate should have a strong quantitative mindset and be interested in working alongside engineers, strategists, architects, and designers with diverse perspectives. Together, you will develop and support unique strategies or original solutions to support our commercial, industrial, and corporate clients and guide them through the process of identifying energy efficiency measures, implementing them, and participating in state and regional energy efficiency programs.

    What you will be doing?

As a Senior Commissioning Engineer, you will be spearheading new construction, monitoring-based/ongoing, and retro-commissioning projects for a wide range of clients. You will be able to perform technical analyses necessary to interpret building operating data, independently review and provide technical feedback on construction documents, and communicate the business value of recommendations to a wide range of stakeholders within client organizations.

You have genuine interests in a multitude of topics, including infrastructures, real estate, technologies, energy and environment, employee engagement, and change management, as they all pertain to our holistic view of energy management and sustainability.

You will work with cross-functional teams to serve primarily large commercial and residential development projects in the U.S. and internationally. You will do this by leveraging your technical expertise and collaborative approach to problem-solving to continuously evolve and improve commissioning processes and resources to meet client needs.

Given the nature of our work, you will receive robust support, but you should also be comfortable with ambiguity and independent work, which will sometimes include a certain degree of uncertainty through evolving strategies, new approaches to test, and concepts to distill into multiple deliverables with very different audiences in mind. This will require you to proactively engage with the team and clients in order to collect feedback and adjust your course of action.

As a member of Altanova, you will be asked to participate in cross-pollinating all the lessons learned on your projects as far as new strategies, concepts, and methodologies, so that we can continuously improve our work and amplify our impact as a company.

    To join us, you need:

    • A Bachelor's Degree (Master’s preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, building science, or a related background is required.

    • Experience as the commissioning authority on a minimum of two (2) LEED-certified projects.
    • Successful completion of at least two (2) large-scale retro, ongoing, or monitoring-based commissioning projects.
    • Energy Efficiency, high-performance building experience.
    • Familiarity with federal, state, and regional energy efficiency programs, including EnergyStar MFNC, EGC, DOE ZERH, PHIUS, CHP, NYSERDA, NJ's P4P, ConEd, PSEG, or other energy conservatory programs.

    • Outstanding math and statistical skills, including experience in Excel modeling.
    • Excellent technical writing and presenting skills.
    • Business level ability in English.

It would be a bonus if you had

    • Practical experience extracting building data (sub-meter & BMS data) into production analytics platforms.
    • Building Energy Modeling and Simulation with EQuest/DOE2, EnergyPlus, and/or DesignBuilder exposure to modeling to ASHRAE Standard 90.1, Standard 55, and 62.1 in various design stages
    • LEED accreditations, CPHC (Certified Passive House Consultant) professional certification
    • High-Performance Building Design Professional Certification
